Mr and Mrs Hayward Enjoy Two Mayoral Visits

By 13th August 2019July 16th, 2022No Comments

Mr and Mrs Hayward of our My Day My Way service have recently enjoyed two Mayoral occasions, thanks to their Support Worker, Pete.

Mr and Mrs Hayward both have a keen interest in Mayoral history; which is an interest shared by their Support Worker, Pete. Pete kindly arranged a visit to the Lord Mayor’s Parlour as part of Mr Hayward’s 2 hour My Day My Way call.

Mrs Hayward was thrilled with this arrangement and asked if she could go too. Mrs Hayward has a particular interest since she was involved with ordering items used to create the Queen’s Vase exhibit which was made to commemorate the Queen’s visit to Stoke-on-Trent many years ago. The vase is so special; it’s still on display now!

Mr and Mrs Haywood were also delighted as The Lord Mayor of Stoke-on-Trent, Cllr Jackie Barnes was able to be in attendance to show them round the Parlour.

After seeing the joy this brought to Mr and Mrs Hayward, Pete then arranged another Mayoral visit and took the couple over to The Old Hall in Madeley, where The Worshipful the Mayor, Cllr Simon White resides. Mr Mayor was a fantastic host and gave Mr and Mrs Hayward a tour of his gardens whilst they chatted about the history of his home and his time as the Mayor of Newcastle-under-Lyme.

Mr and Mrs Hayward thoroughly enjoyed both of these sessions as the activities were based around aspects of their life that are important to them.

We would like to thank both The Lord Mayor of Stoke-on-Trent, Cllr Jackie Barnes and The Worshipful the Mayor, Cllr Simon White for their excellent hospitality and being involved with our valuable service.

This example demonstrates how flexible, accommodating and personal our My Day My Way service is.  My Day My Way works by matching up individuals with one of Approach’s trained Support Workers based on their shared interests. This makes the time they spend together much more engaging and meaningful.
