British Retailer Marks and Spencer Raise Funds for Approach
In early 2018, Marks and Spencer’s Hanley store chose to support Approach as their Charity of the Year.
Employees at the Hanley store were keen to support Approach through this initiative since a number of staff members have in some way been affected by dementia and have used Approach’s Carer’s Cafés and Training services.
Phil May, Manager at Marks and Spencer, said:
“We asked our employees to vote for a charity to support and Approach were the clear winners due to how many of employees are affected by dementia. Those that weren’t directly affected by the condition really rallied behind their colleagues and wanted to support a charity which was important to their friends. Our fundraising team have worked hard throughout the year to generate funds for Approach and organised very successful book sales, raffles and a staff social”
We are delighted to announce that the Marks and Spencer store have raised a phenomenal £3,223.32 to support our services.
We would like to give a huge thank you to Marks and Spencer for raising funds for Approach.
We no longer receive any funding to provide our valuable Carers services and therefore we are wholly reliant of the kindness of those in our local community for financial support. This donation from Marks and Spencer is therefore very important to us.
The money raised will go towards support people living with dementia and their carers to continue to access our vital services.
Thank you very much to everyone at the Marks and Spencer store (especially hardworking Fundraisers, Zoe and Anita, pictured above) who have got behind the work we do here at Approach. We are all so grateful for all you have achieved over the last year. Finally, thank you to Marks and Spencer shoppers who kindly donated their loose change to further boost donated funds.
