We are often asked how can I help raise awareness of dementia so we’ve put together a list of ten ways that you can assist.

1 – Sign up to become a Dementia Friend

2 – Encourage an Organisation to Join the Dementia Action Alliance

 

Encourage an organisation that you are involved in (Workplace, Shop, Pub, Theatre, Place of Worship, Sports Club or any other type of organisation that is public facing) to sign up to become Dementia Friendly through the Dementia Action Alliance Find Out More Here – Link http://www.dementiaaction.org.uk/who_we_are

 

3 – Join our Walk To Remember

Join Approach for our annual “Walk to Remember” event at Westport Lake. It usually takes place on the first Sunday of Dementia Awareness Week. Our 2018 Walk was our biggest yet (see pictures on the link below) please keep an eye on our website which will be updated as soon as we confirm the 2019 date.

4 – Wear Your Dementia Friends Badge

Wear your Dementia Friends Badge with pride so that people know that you are supportive or can ask about it

 

5 – Raise Your Own Awareness

Raise your own awareness of the scale, costs and economic impact that Dementia has on the UK by reading this report on the Alzheimer’s Society Website

6 – Be Aware of the Projected Scale of Dementia

7 – Share Information on Social Media

Post information on your social media channels e.g. share the join dementia friends link on your facebook page or twitter timeline

 

8 – Fundraise for Dementia

Host your own Dementia fundraising event or raise money by doing an activity –for a Dementia related charity. You could organise a coffee morning or fun day. 9 – Volunteer
