Approach will offer specialised dementia care in the form of day opportunity services at the venue allowing our current offer to extend to people with complex and profound needs.

We have struggled in the past to find appropriate accommodation people with these needs in our traditional community venues. Our award winning Men in Sheds group are already based in the Brook Centre and have assisted with its renovation following it being mothballed for 12 months.

Newcastle Borough Council Mayor Councillor Simon White will be cutting the ribbon to officially open the centre at 1pm. Also in attendance will be Will Boyce, CEO of Approach and Manager of Care Services Amanda Illidge. We will have refreshments available for all attendees and some musical entertainment.

The Brook Centre was formerly North Staffs Special Adventure Playground and is located on Stanier Street, Newcastle under Lyme, ST5 2SU.

The venue has been leased from Newcastle Borough Council, in partnership with Our Space, a charity that will continue the work for to deliver a fully-inclusive service for disabled children and adults along the lines of its previous use.

Will said “We are really excited about this partnership with Our Space and the facilities that will allow us to offer an enhanced range of care services. The Brook Centre is fully equipped to deliver all aspects of personal care. It’s a really positive step for Approach and I’m sure our service users will  enjoy the wonderful surroundings that the Brook Centre has to offer”
