What can a member expect?
Our emphasis is on activity in small groups enabling members to feel more able to cope. We provide a variety of activities, both physical and mental, in a person's centered approach, which help to stimulate and improve each individual member. Each day’s pursuits are unhurried and without pressure, but are based on our knowledge and experience of many years. What do we offer carers?
We offer help, support and general recognition of the difficulties carers cope with. They gain several hours of respite once or twice a week from 10.00am to 3.00pm.The Approach Café ©2007 approachThe café aims to help carers better manage their situation.The café meets on the first Friday of each month between 10.00am and 12 noon and provides information and support for carers. There will be a guest speaker and social workers and community psychiatric nurses in attendance at each café. What does a day consist of?
Transport is provided either by car or mini bus.Physical and mental activities are varied throughout the day in an atmosphere that allows members to be stimulated in order to achieve personal development. The activities provided include discussions, quizzes, exercise, games and singing. Extra activities include outings for lunch, visits by various local people including health promoters and entertainers. A hot lunch is provided during a relaxing social hour with more activities in the afternoon. At 3pm the members are driven home.
